Qibla Shadow is to calculate the time of a phenomenon that occurs when the sun is directly above the Qibla angle (convergence), making the shadow of an object point directly towards or directly away from the Qibla, depending on your location. This event is used to accurately determine the Qibla direction without the need for a compass, by observing the shadow's direction at the specific time it occurs.
For the dates corresponding to the Mecca equinox (istiwa a'dzom) phenomenon, which are May 28 at 5:16 PM and July 16 at 5:28 PM (start one day earlier in a leap year), the difference with the display time is due to the fact that the sun's declination at noon at the Kaaba is not always the same as the latitude of the Kaaba. As a result, during zenith at the Kaaba, the sun is not exactly right above the Kaaba. However, this difference is only a few minutes and it does not have a significant effect on the direction of using the sun shadow.
